Urban Transport (2004)

I had originally ventured to downtown Cleveland to shoot the architecture, but a number of skaters on Public Square unknowingly provided subjects for a few action shots.

Unfortunately, in order to get an appropriate angle (and also not to attract the attention of my subjects), I had to position myself across the street. This provided me with a very limited window of opportunity – a three foot gap between two parked city buses. Action shots as unpredictable as these are difficult to begin with, but having only a split second to anticipate a skater’s arrival and action, to focus, and to take the shot at the right time made this an especially difficult task.

Wet Flowers

One day back at home, I was watering the flowers on one of those brilliant Ohio summer days. The vibrant colors made luscious by the combination of water and sunlight begged for a photo shoot.

Stalactites (2002)

This is one of my earliest photographs. Right around New Year’s Eve, the snow began to thaw, and dripped from the eaves of my house onto the snow below.

I don’t know what it was that gave me the idea, but by turning the camera upside down, an ordinary sight becomes something almost mystical.

Kissing Angels

Every winter, these two little figurines come out from storage. This is one of the first photos taken with my camera (I’m up to about 5,000 now)
